Cedar's Mediterranean Grill is a delicious blend of predominantly Italian and Lebanese food, with the same heart-healthy ingredients known throughout the region. Our restaurant was formed from the merger of two award winning favorite restaurants within Bastrop County. We have a local favorites, like the 1/2 pound burgers (best price in town!), and the Death by Garlic sandwich. Some items are different on our lunch menu than the dinner menu, so make sure you check out both our lunch & dinner menus if you're looking for one of your favorites. You'll find Cedars to be a versatile option for your catering needs. No limitations to just Italian and Mediterranean for our catering functions.

We chose to eat here because it was close to the Perry River House (where we are staying) and it had good Yelp reviews.
The menu is a mix of middle eastern
and Italian dishes. I ordered Chicken Sophia (rolled chicken breast stuffed with artichoke hearts, mozzarella and pine nuts, then lightly fried). Served with a side of fettuccine Alfredo and a couple
of garlic bread slices. Also, a side salad with choice of dressing. It was really tasty.
The husband ordered the lamb and onion stew with a starter of crawfish chowder. He tacked on a side salad.
The chowder, while flavorful, could have been a tad thicker. Maybe it's unfair to compare it to clam chowder. The salads were typical side salads.
He enjoyed the stew served in a large
bowl.
While we were there around 4pm, people soon started arriving. It was fairly crowded when we left.
Not bad at all.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Oct 11, 2022
Been wanting to try this place for some time. My favorite airline frequent flyer program has been promoting them (good advertising).
I had also seen them here in Yelp but didn't know that they offer beer and wine. It's nice to enjoy a glass of wine with Italian food, so I was happy when they brought a decent wine list. Nothing too fancy or too expensive, but a nice variety of grapes from the US, South America and Europe. A number of bottles were available for roughly $28 a bottle. Also available by the glass.
We enjoyed everything we tried here. We'll definitely be back, and my partner is already telling me she'll order the same dish again - the kafta plate. She let me try it and it was perfect. Lots of fresh herbs and spices, great texture, nice blend of beef and lamb -- really good.
I had Daddy's Salmon. I wouldn't have thought to combine potatoes (almost like country breakfast potatoes) with salmon, but the artichoke, lemon and tomato brought it together. Even though It wasn't the best dish we tried, it did not disappoint.
The crawfish chowder was a bit spicy and really good. The baba ganoush was wonderful. We'll likely order that again. The pita bread they served that with was okay bit a little bit dry today. But the slice of toasted, buttered bread they served with the Italian entree was delicious.
So... we'll be back for more kafta. And we may try the dolmas, which other tables seemed to be really enjoying. And we'll have to try the tiramisu, because... tiramisu.
Four stars. Close to five. But the dated decor (especially the window blinds and curtains) and the feeder-road location kind of pull it away from the edge of fine dining. That said, it wasn't a bad ambiance, the service was great, and they had nice Italian music playing. All that's enough to bring us back.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sep 28, 2023Updated review
This place is still good! The crawfish chowder is really good, as is every other dish I had here. Give it a try!

One more note...
I am recovering from a fractured fibula and cannot yet bear my full weight on my leg, so I'm using a walker. The staff was incredibly helpful and gracious!
Great little restaurant with a great staff!Oct 13, 2018Previous reviewWhat a great surprise this place was! We were heading to the farm after a late arrival at Austin's airport and stopped here for dinner. It was around 8:30 so it was not very crowded, but the waitstaff was friendly and welcoming. I ordered the linguini pescatore (sp?) and crawfish chowder while my wife ordered lasagna and a salad. The chowder was great! I think it was a corn chowder base with crawfish and my wife's salad was made with fresh greens and a nice blue cheese dressing. The linguini was perfectly cooked and the seafood and sauce was very nice. My wife said the lasagna was very good but had to wait for it to cool down to eat it!
All in all, this place is worth a trip to Bastrop. Unpretentious and affordable with a great waitstaff! - Katherine F.Conroe, TX696329Feb 19, 2023
It says Mediterranean but it's actually mostly Italian. It was a bit of a disappointment that there wasn't more selection. But okay. I'll try the eggplant Parmesan. It was great. Perfect texture and mouthfeel. The marinara was pretty good too. I ordered some hummus to go.
Then I ate it the next day. Holy mother of God!! It was so freaking hot I threw it in the trash. I don't like spicy food. Settle down. I can handle it just fine. I don't LIKE it. I don't like how it cancels out the flavor of everything. Also I don't expect hummus to be spicy. I would like a nice gentle hummus with garlic and parsley with just a hint of lemon. I was not expecting lava with hints of napalm.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Toma P.San Antonio, TX867041Jul 22, 2023
Service is fantastic! Food is three to four stars. Giving it a four, because of the friendly service.
Babaganoush - is fantastic
We got the Greek sampler platter, definitely worth it. Hummus and Feta were ok. Tomatoes, are your traditional American, no taste. In Greece, tomatoes are delicious, and don't serve them cold. Tomatoes should always be served room temp.
Wife and I ordered Gyro and Falafel, pretty good. Would I ordered it again, yes.
Pasta, we got lasagna and spaghetti marinara, sauce is too sweet, therefore making it not edible for us.
So, would I come back, yes. Would I come every week, no. Would I come and buy the babganoush to go? Absolutely!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jun 25, 2023
Boyfriend and I went here for a date night, as we were both wanting Mediterranean food. We got the sampler appetizer (hummus, pita bread, olives, feta cheese, tomatoes) and it was wonderful, especially paired with the red blend wine I ordered. We both ordered Grilled Kafta Plate with a side salad (get the house dressing!), and we both enjoyed our entries! Great prices, quiet, comfy ambiance, and welcoming staff. We plan on returning to try the Italian side of the menu.

Simple offerings. The chicken in my pasta dish wasn't seasoned if at all but cooked well. The cream sauce was really good. The hummus/olive/eggplant was just as described. Waitstaff was friendly - the rooster outside perched on the windowsill (outside) kept crowing... a lot.

One of the best places in Bastrop! Great service and ambiance. I have tried almost everything on the menu and haven't had a bad experience yet. I'd recommend the spicy hummus to start and the grilled kafta for an entree if you like Mediterranean cuisine!

Such a wonderful place to eat. My favorite place in Bastrop. So happy they survived the traffics hassles of the Hwy 71 bridge construction.
Started with the Baked Brie appetizer. Sorry the picture is after we finished it off. Just sooo delicious with the apple slices and shaved almonds. Yumm.
I had the lasagna. Just a fantastic thick and rich marinara and perfect amount of cheese. It's a top 5 lasagna for sure.
Mom had the coconut shrimp and rice. She let me have one to try. One of the best I've had and maybe the first where I could taste the toasted coconut flavor.
Too full for a dessert so we had another glass of wine instead. Our waitress, Kristy, was a phenom. She single handed managed 10-12 tables at a time and all with a smile. Chef came out briefly and checked on folks.
Great place for lunch or dinner.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jan 21, 2019Previous reviewWow. Outstanding choice if you're in or traveling thru Bastrop. The Chef hails from Austin and thankfully opted to join the quieter life in Bastrop and brought his talents here. I had the best Chicken Parm with a beautiful marinara and lots of cheese. Also tasted and loved the special Chicken Florentine, lamb and okra stew and tortellini dish. Sooo dang good. For dessert we had the baklava and the Italian creme. Both were devoured and completely worth the calories even though I was already full. Kathryn was our server and did a perfect job. So friendly and helpful. Great big city flavor profiles at small town prices and ambiance. Thanks.

We had a group of 6 friends have dinner. The food was fresh and the service was friendly. The tomato soup was beautiful. I had eggplant parmigiana others had lasagna and the shrimp special. The person who had the shrimp asked for another dinner to go because he liked it so much but they had sold out. Several of us had the Italian Cream Cake and it was moist and delicious. My only wish was for more Greek choices for dinner such as gyro
